Brie Larson angers her fans by buying an NFT

Brie Larson, an Oscar winning actress that is most known for her role of Captain Marvel in the Marvel Universe, has landed in hot waters again with her fans. She is not a stranger to controversies, but this time the reason is quite strange, she bought an NFT!

Her NFT is from the collection FlowerGirlsNFT made by the illustrator Varvara Alay, and the art piece is aesthetically quite pleasing.

But her fans were not happy. It is quite known that Brie Larson loves virtue signaling, and it seems she attracted similar fans. Her tweet got “ratioed”, and the reason for all that criticism was because “NFT are bad for the environment”.

Whether that critique has merit, remains to be seen, but what we know so far is that fighting NFTs is like fighting internet 20 years ago. There were people that did that, but now all of them have emails.

Brie Larson is just the latest celebrity that has endorsed NFTs. Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Snoop Dogg, and at least 10 others have done that before her. The singer and the ex-wife of Elon Musk, Grimes, has made around 6 million dollars from selling NFTs

Larson’s fans might decide to stay away from NFTs, but the market has spoken. NFTs not only have value, but the more we immerse ourselves in the digital landscape, the more that value will increase.

It seems that NFTs will be bought for the same reason people buy DIOR clothes, Mercedes car, or Adidas training pants, they help us do what humans have done since the beginning of history, they help us express ourselves and communicate who we are, our uniqueness, our worth, and our peculiarity.
